Everyone needs help, but they also need a place to reflect on their life and be accepted unconditionally. I take great pride in providing that environment. Someone did that for me and it transformed my life.
With experience in palliative care, both in hospice and my own father’s journey with dementia, I have a unique set of skills to whole heartedly guide clients through the most challenging of circumstances.
Through person centered care, I apply integrative approaches to such areas as grief and loss, trauma, anxiety and depression. I’m determined to give clients a return on their investment that leaves them with a deeper understanding of the “why” behind their pain. Through that understanding, clients are left energized to maintain their therapeutic gains while striving for continuous improvement. Beyond training in trauma, Internal Family Systems and Grief and Loss, I have extensive experience in chronic illness, end of life through Dignity Therapy and 16 years as an active caretaker of a father with dementia. I understand pain and suffering at a level that is needed in this type of work. Reach out, I would be honored to work with you on your journey.
Why Dignity
In graduate school I had the opportunity to work clinically with clients who had a chronic or terminal illness. It was in this work where I was introduced to a therapeutic approach called Dignity Therapy. The founder, Max Chochinov, created an intervention to address the existential distress experienced by sick and dying clients. Through my experience implementing Dignity Therapy, I discovered the power of connecting with one’s personhood when they are at their most vulnerable. Whether 27 or 87, these clients did not see themselves as dying, but rather as a person who parented children, ran companies, fought in wars and even danced two-step every Wednesday night for 20 years. The power of Dignity Therapy changed my life forever and I now dedicate my practice to honoring the dignity of each and every one of my clients.
